display photo on desktop?

Q) I display my photo on desktop, but the photograph on screen isn't displayed good enough

A) The picture may be too small. Its made up of blocks called pixels, and the size is measured by so many pixels wide by so many pixels tall. Your screen is about 1024 x 768 pixels wide and tall. So a photo thats only 200 x 200 will be stretched to cover the screen, and you'll see the blocks. You can try changing the display on your screen to fix it. - Right click on an empty area of the desktop and click Properties. - Click Desktop. - On the right of the page there are 3 options, and the middle one says 'position'. Make sure thats set at 'center', not stretch. - Click Apply then OK. Your photo will appear in the cantre of the screen. You can also change the colour of the background to suit it. If its too small, your only option is to get a bigger copy of the photo.

display problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help me?

Q) i have gta S A for the pc for a long while now. game play gets sluggish at times (how do i fix that, ive reduced my visual fx quality, turned on frame limiter i cant fix that!!!!!) any ways my biggest problem is the screen, its very dark wen the game time turns to night i cant see where i am driving on the road,even in the day my car and Cj looks dark my entire environment is!!. most times i cant see the details of the buildings around me buildings around me ( color ,windows,doors every thing is just dark) most times i cant see the color of the car i am driving it is dark and i also cant see CJ's face or clothes. all i see is a dark figure. i cant see down a alley every thing is dark but ive tried most settings (ive been to the control panel, in the game display menu , my monitor display menu etc.) what can be done to fix this please help. i also tried the gamma setting in the control panel but every time i run gta the gamma settings automaticaly reset its not my game settings i adjusted evry thing there and it isnt my monitor settings either, none of the above gave any visible effect.

A) I had a similar problem in Baldur's Gate 2 for the pc, and in Age Of Empires 1 (Many years ago!)... If turnign up the brightness on your monitor doesn't work, you can try altering the Gamma levels. You can usually do this by right clicking on the desktop, clicking properties, and going to the 'Settings' tab. if there is an advanced button, click it, and you may find either brightness, gamma, or similar options. the higher the gamma level, the brighter your screen will be, making it easier to see. however, if during the daytime on the game you experience no problems, bear in mind that it's designed so you have poor visibility at night. you're playing a thug, an escaped convict, on the run from the law. not an owl!

Are Pay & Display meters time synchronized with traffic wardens handheld units?

Q) I would like to know if the handheld unit that wardens print tickets on has the same time on it as the pay & display machines that you get the ticket from to display on your windshield. If so, how is it synchronized? are the pay & display machines connected to the to the parking contractors base in any way?

A) Don't think so. My brother got a ticket at 6.29 when it wasn't free until 6.30. He argued with the council that the warden's clocks might not be that accurate. They sadi that they are accuarnt to fractions of a secind from a centralised server. He said that it was unreasonable for him to have a similar device and they let him off.

No display, clicking front panel, no hard disk sounds, unplugged M/B, cables, new power supply, blown M/B ?

Q) The clicking front panel was cured by changing the power supply, but there was still no display. CDROM, floppy, Hard Disk has been unplugged. So its basically a motherboard, CPU, memory, still no display. I think either the CPU (Celeron D) or the motherboard has blown and it is related to faulty power supply. What do you guys and gals think?

A) Did you have a power outage? Surge perhaps? Something took out the power supply right? If you aren't getting any kind of beep code or anything and everything seems to be reacting normally. The very first thing I would do is check to make sure the monitor didn't get toasted! Always verify the monitor isn't fried before you go to the MB and other internal parts of the pc for troubleshooting a video related issue. Did you get responses from the hard disk, or cd rom after the power supply was replaced?

PC Display/Startup Problems?

Q) I have a problem with my PC starting up. It claims there is no signal, i.e. monitor not connected. However, this is not true. I have checked and double checked and triple checked all connections. The monitor itself is not faulty, because if I leave the PC on with “No Signal” still displaying sometimes I come back to it n it has booted up and is at the login screen, so I know the monitor/dvi cable/graphics card are not faulty, but instead are just choosing to be temperamental. I do not have a spare graphics card/monitor to try it out with but can anyone suggest any reasons as to why this might be happening? Additional Points: 1.My monitor cable has got screws and they have been screwed in properly 2.I have removed and reinserted graphics card and cables 3.The PC goes straight to No Display then the monitor turns off as if in standby. It doesn't go to POST screen 4.My Monitor has its own power supply 5.I cannot start safe mode/reinstall drivers because it wont turnOn

A) Have already answered this question > But will try to clarify Are you on this computer NOW when posting this question??? If not test the monitor on this computer. IF you are (BECAUSE you have stated that after a while the computer starts up) then you need to do some diagnostics on the PC > Check the eventviewer > look in the system and application folders > look for any errors > click on the errors then look at the description >> google the description > this can give you vital clues ALSO when you first start your computer up and the display goes into no signal > do you get a POST beep from the computer (POWER ON SELF TEST) > if not then this is pointing to a hardware problem with you computer > ie hard drive > cpu or mobo Once you computer starts up and then you shut down > try booting up again > does it do the same or does it boot ok? If boots ok then may point to a problem with the hard drive > Remove the graphix card and then plug the monitor into the vga slot - see if you have the same problem > if not then problem with the graphix card > if so then pointing to a problem with the mobo Just to CLARIFY - then monitor going to NO DISPLAY means that the monitor is self testing - after a while it will go to power saving mode ie go into standby Hope this Helps

iPOD LCD display?

Q) I've had on and off problems with the LCD display on my ipod, and at this point the display isn't showing any track or menu information. Has anyone experienced this problem, and can you give me some advice and info whether it's possible to have it repaired?

A) You might have to reset your ipod or adjust the contrast.

Dreamweaver color display problem?

Q) I have made a site in dreamwaever which is working fine (www.lazyfruit.com) in internet explorer. The problem is the light grey color will not display in other browsers such as firefox, netscape an I think safari. Can anyone help me with this problem I cannot understand the reason? I have also quickly tried making a new simple page an it seems that the light grey colour still does not display. This is not a problem with my monitor as it can display the colour in other applications. Sorry for all the additional bits but I have now found that the browser can display the color e.g if I make a blank page in dreamweaver it displays correctly. The problem seems to be if I choose the color inside a table row or column.

A) If you stick to the websafe palette or use hex numbers, the display should be the same for all browsers. http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/ If you get a blank area (white instead of grey) then the browser can't see the code and is using its default colour. So the problem could be in the coding. Making websites display correctly in both IE7 and other browsers is proving to be a bit of a headache for many web designers. Try using a background tile thats the right colour.

CHRISTMAS, LIGHTS DISPLAY ,anyone in uk have a computerized display if so....?

Q) what system do u use (lor?)and where do i start,been on pc forum but would like expertise from a UK angle on how to start,i currently have a large static display and want to go animated my budget is around £2000 to start and build up thru the years,i know lor are having a sale but they still havent got back to me as i emailed them with my budget etc!!! anyone out there??

A) Not in the UK, but I am a decorator. I use LOR because it seems to be more popular on PC. With that being the case, it is easier to find people to answer questions when you have them. After saying that, Animated Lighting is probably easier to program (after talking with Ken Good at the Ark-La-Tex minis). You can load a picture of your house to their editor and draw the lights. It will give you a better picture. Whereas LOR does not let you use a picture of your home (at least not yet) I think there are a couple of people from the UK that post over on MyHolidayDisplays.com that may be computerized.

how can i display an external webpage on my webpage?

Q) hi all im looking for some code to allow me to display and external webpage on my site, i need it to display the page smaller also, would be good if this was adjustable so i can play with the settings to see what looks right. many thanks gavin

A) You can use the <iframe> tag and place the target page anywhere on your own page. Refer to the tag's syntax to play with the size and style.

vauxhall zafira - LCD display for mileage?

Q) Just replaced the standard Vauxhall radio cassette with a CD player - working fine, but have noticed that the LCD display that shows the mileage clocking up has gone blank....surely this is nothing to do with the fact that Ive changed the stereo?? could it be that I just need to replace a bulb behind the dashboard for the LDC to display again??

A) If you haven't fitted a vauxhall CD player, you could have blown the circuit on your speed ometer. When you play the CD player does the time/date display show a CD/casette playing, if not the CD player you have fitted isn't compatable with your vehicles system. If you have steering wheel controls they will work if it is compatable.

Display adapter memory - Ideal memory of Display Adapter and how to reduce the same from 256 mb to 64 mb?

Q) My display adapter (plug & play monitor) memory shows 256 mb. I have TV tuner card installed. I'd like to know what is the ideal memory allocated to display adapter. I have total 512 mb ram intalled. While under My Computer it shows as 448 mb, under System properties it shows as 512 mb. Will there be any problem if I reduce the memory allocated to display adapter to 64 mb? My friend's pc's display adapter memory shows as 64 mb. Please tell me how to reduce the memory allocation to display adapter.

A) go to the bios by pressing del or f1 or f2 go to the advance menu depend upon the bios find agp aperture size press enter you will find various memory sizes, select the one which you require. the best agp aperture size is half the systems memory. if you dont play games its ok.

Display Image won't change?

Q) On Yahoo IM, I can change my display to my avatar and back to my display image. However, I can't change my display image to another display image. When I browse for a picture and select it, it will show in 'My Display Image' screen but it does not stay after I click 'Ok.' My old image is still shown. I have tried using jpg and bmp files but neither works. I tried clearing yahoo avatar cache and uninstalling/reinstalling flash. No success. Please, does anyone know how to fix this? After reviewing the only answer provided I was completely discouraged that I would receive any knowledgable help from this site. So, I tried uninstalling Yahoo and reinstalling it. That seems to have worked, at least this time. I still can't get over the answer that was provided....wow...just wow...

display image, and flash features gone. how do i fix this?

Q) i looked up how to fix the display image thing. it said delete avatar cache. that didn't do anything but remove avatar. not fix display image. then i uninstalled flash, and reinstalled it, but yahoo doesn't sense it no matter what and i even uninstalled yahoo and reinstalled it. but now avatars and winks and display images all don't work. that means the flash images and the regular images don't function now. How do i fix this problem so that yahoo recognizes flash, and the display images will work, and my yahoo avatar can be seen by me on yahoo messenger again? ok i tried doing the internet explorer thing, but actually cannot because IE 7 messed up internet explorer somehow and i tried all the remedies to fix that and it won't work. i tried deleting winsock keys, but that didn't solve anything, i followed steps, apparently there are files missing but the system file checker didn't fix them. but the files weren't missing before, and for some reason IE 7 thinks it is IE 6. won't display any page, so i cannot install flash via IE, because i even reinstalled IE and got the same problem. I don't recommend IE 7, because it has caused it so i cannot use IE and cannot use flash features of yahoo. Anybody that can help me is appreciated.

A) all the features you mentioned that are no long working use / require flash to be installed so I'm guessing that the reinstall of flash failed. Flash needs to be installed via Internet Explorer so launch that and trot back to the flash install page.... http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/ to see if IE recognises it, if not, then follow the prompts to reinstall and take note of any error messages it generates like OS or browser unsupported.

display name on windows live messenger?

Q) I want to change my display name on windows live messenger but it wont let me. my current one is my email address... I went to options under personal and under where it says display name, it is blocked. so, I can see what my name is, but it wont let me click on it to change it. does anybody know why that is? or another way I can change it without changing my email?

A) Reinstall the messenger. Something is probably wrong.

How to display widescreen?

Q) Hi, I'm a novice, I just built my first pc, and I have it hooked up to my 32" widescreen lcd tv via vga. I can't display 16:9 widescreen it only comes out 4:3 or whatever size it is. I'm getting a square display that doesn't fill in the whole screen, so I have black on each side. How do I get my computer to display widescreen? Would I need a video card? If so which one would work and the cheapest? Right now i'm using the onboard video graphics which is SIS mirage 2. Also, I don't have a dvi input for my lcd. So my only option is vga or svideo

A) isnt there options in the tv menu setup also if u can also find out what the native resolution of your lcd is then it might fill your screen that way,eg my native resolution of my widescreen is 1440x900 which i set on my pc.

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"?

Q) I just got a new computer yesterday, and installed world of warcraft, though while playing it, every so often my screen would black out and some-what freeze on me and then come back to the game. It's the only time it seems to do that is while playing WoW, and does it every 45sec to a couple minutes. After I exited the game, there was a message that popped up. ""Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."" Halp. =( I really dont want to have to take this thing apart and take it back to the store after I just got it yesterday. ;-; Thanks in advance~

A) Go to the manufacturers website, and download the drivers for the video card, or, go to the video cards manufacturers website to do this. It is possible that the video card driver file is corrupt, or obsolete (WoW is VERY hard on graphics cards). Also, make sure that the settings are correct for the card.

my wallpaper displays when i turn on my pc after that it goes away but screensavers display ok. what do i do?

Q) I downloaded Popular Screensavers and added my photos. At first everything was fine but then when ever i turned on my computer the wallpaper would only display for a couple of seconds and then there is either a blue screen or a red screen nothing else. I went back to the website and tried to reset the display setting and still nothing happens. Should I try something else or remove this feature? I also have screensavers for the same site and they display just fine according to the display settings I have set fot it. Is there something I need to do when my computer first boots up or what? Im not to computer savy so please make ur directions easy.Thanks everybody

A) When it does that it usually means it goes off the most recent wallpaper and when Windows loads the desktop after the computer starts up it shows black because somehow the most recent wallpaper has been cleared off so just right-click on the desktop... click the "Properties" option at the bottom of the right-click menu... go to "Desktop" tab and find your most recent wallpaper... if not in the list... browse and find it on your pc and put it in for the current wallpaper... click OK and you're done.

JavaScript to display images?

Q) I am looking for a JavaScript script that will run on a FreeBSD 5.4 OS with Perl 5.8.8 installed. I have a collection of images saved in a directory that I want to display one at a time on a daily basis on a webpage. I need a script that could sort the files in a given directory and display the first one in the web page I am creating. After 12 midnight the the script would move the previously displayed image to a new location and display the next image in the directory. The directory structure for the stored images is: /usr/local/www/seibercom/htdocs/images I would like to store the displayed images under the 'image' directory. I am not sure if this can even be accomplished with Java, but I thought I would give it a try. The alternative would be to try and do something with Perl and run it from CRON perhaps.

A) Hello on my script - I can alter it if it is not exactly what you require. I wanted to post something here for you to peruse before you reply to my clarifications. If you require the images still to be moved I can easily build this in to the script for you although I think it may not be necessary depending on your exact requirements and the number of images in the directory. You should place the script below into the directory of images on your server (set the permissions of the script to chmod 755). When run the script will calculate the current day of the year (the number of days since January 1st) and the number of JPG images in the directory. If there are more images in the directory than days in the year then the script will have to be altered. If there have been more days in the year so far than there are number of images in the directory the script will simply begin displaying each image from the beginning again. The script will loop through each image in the directory before displaying it twice. The images are sorted alphabetically. The script stores the name of each image file in an array and outputs the image depending on the day of the year. To display an image simply use this in your HTML: <img src="location_of_your_perl_script.pl"> If any of this is unclear please take a close look at the script and ask for clarification. I will try to respond as swiftly as possible. acer laptop display problems?

Q) the other day while I was using my laptop and the display flickered and then the bottom 2/3 of the screen went grey and I can not see anything underneath the grey portion. When I connect an external display, the external display works fine. If Ido something that causes the laptop display to have to cut off and then back on, the display is fine for a split second then it goes grey on the bottom 2/3 again. Is there anything that I can do to repair this myself? The laptop is only 24 days old.

I upgrade my display driver and it now returns "Display not supported"?

Q) Dear all, I have recently upgrade my display driver (on board intel display card) and somehow it return "Display not supported". I have tried to restore/fix Window XP and I got my display back and quickly change it back to lower resolution. After I restart, the problem come back again, what should I do? I tried to hit F8 but can't get into the safe mode. Shall I do the same restore Windows XP and just remove the program from Intel that contains the driver? Please help!

A) in your device manager disable your intel on board video, then find the one that you recently upgrade and use that for your default video card.
